A BURNHAM-ON-SEA musician has hailed the local community, following the recovery of his van and possessions, which had been stolen overnight.

Taylor Topham, who is known for his outdoor busking sessions in Burnham town centre, posted on Facebook just before 8am this morning, with the news that he had been burgled.

He said: "Last night my house was broken into.

"My van has been taken, my surfboard, my guitar, amp, microphone, all my busking gear, my wetsuit, my clothes, bank cards, money, all my CDs, my entire life.

"Lost for words. Please help me put the word out.

"Not really sure what else to do. Anyone hear of anything please message me."

Avon & Somerset Police confirmed that they had received a call regarding a burglary in Worston Lane, Burnham, with a property having been broken into and several items reported stolen.

It was believed that the break-in had happened between 11pm on Sunday night and 6.30am on Monday morning, and anyone with information was urged to call the police on 101 (with call handler reference number 5221138027).

Mr Topham provided a further update just after 2.15pm on Monday afternoon, saying that his van had been recovered.

"Hey guys, thank you all so much for the support," he said.

"My van was found abandoned in Highbridge, my possessions were still in there thank god, except for money and no key for the van.

"What a beautiful community of people we have in the South West.

"Social media can definitely be used for a positive thing.

"We are having the locks changed on our home and my van, and hopefully we can recover the money and maybe even the keys.

"Thank you again you kind souls - I cannot say that enough."
