SOMERSET County Council's travel arm has released details of major roadworks starting in the county this week.

The biggest project is the £8.3million Toneway improvements scheme.

The work takes in Bridgwater Road, the Creech Castle junction and Toneway and is due to last 231 working days.

Other schemes starting this week are as follows.

MONDAY (August 9):

  • CHEDDAR ROAD, WEDMORE: formation of new entrance to estate, 19 working days.
  • HUISH CLEEVE ROAD, HUISH CHAMPFLOWER: local drainage scheme, 10 working days.
  • MORAVIA CLOSE, BRIDGWATER: foul and water connections, five working days.
  • ABBEY FARM LANE, DITCHEAT: resurfacing, five working days.
  • BACK LANE, BRADFORD-ON-TONE: local drainage scheme, three working days.
  • MARSH LANE, HUNTWORTH: resurfacing, two working days.
  • STAPLE FITZPAINE ROAD, STAPLE FITZPAINE: tree removal, one day.

TUESDAY (August 10):

  • SMITHS HILL, WEST CHINNOCK: ducting works, four working days.
  • HOLES LANE to RAILFORD HILL, WHATLEY: machine patching work, one working day.

WEDNESDAY (August 11):

  • YORKS LANE, CHEWTON MENDIP: machine patching work, two working days.

FRIDAY (August 13):

  • BRENT STREET, BRENT KNOLL: resurfacing, 11 working days.
