MORE than £3,000 has been donated to Somerset foodbanks thanks to the help of a fast-food chain.

In December 2021, ten McDonald's restaurants in Bridgwater, Taunton, Yeovil, Street and Weston-super-Mare donated a share of £3,358 to five foodbanks in Somerset.

The donations were split between The Lord's Larder in Yeovil, Bridging the Gap in Glastonbury, Bridgwater Foodbank, Taunton Foodbank and Weston-super-Mare Foodbank.

Funding was collected between December 6 and 12 from donations given to the drive-thru or the in-counter collection pots.

On Saturday, December 11, McDonald's franchisee, Tim Lamb, donated £1 for every car ordering through the drive thru restaurants, or customer transaction occurring within the in-store restaurants, between the hours of 12pm to 4pm in Bridgwater and Street and from midday to 2pm in all the other restaurants.

Tim, who owns and operates 12 restaurants across Somerset, said: “After what has been such a difficult year for everyone, my team and I felt we had to do our bit to support the brilliant organisations in our local community, that do so much for people in need.

"We know how vital this donation will be to them, especially at this time of year and we hope that it goes some way to making a positive impact for our community.”
