ONE police officer recorded 97 drivers speeding on the M5 in Somerset today (Wednesday, January 12).
Of the motorists breaking the speed limit, one was clocked at 106mph - 50 per cent on top of the 70mph limit.
Another was caught doing 102mph.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police's roads policing unit tweeted: "Not what we had in mind with regard to taking advantage of the weather.
"These are just two of 97 drivers caught across the county by one officer.
"If you choose to drive at these speeds on the roads of @ASPolice then do not be surprised when you hear from us."
