ALL lanes have now re-opened on the M5 northbound between Junction 25 (Taunton) and J24 (North Petherton) following the earlier collision.

Delays of up to 50 minutes with cogestion of around eight miles was reported 20 minutes ago by Highways England South West.

TRAFFIC has come to a standstill on the M5 at Taunton following a four-vehicle crash.

All three lands of the northbound carriageway around Junction 25 are blocked.

Reports say three cars and a van were involved in the incideint.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix said: “Three lanes blocked and queueing traffic due to accident, three cars and a van involved on M5 Northbound after J25 A358 (Taunton).

“Cameras show all lanes are blocked with traffic using the hard shoulder to get past.”

A spokesperson for National Highways South Wesy said lanes 2, 3 and 4 are currently closed between J25 (Taunton) and J24 (North Petherton).

They added: "There are currently delays of 30 minutes with approximately four miles of congestion."
