MORE than 30 beautiful gardens across Somerset are opening to visitors this summer in aid of St Margaret’s Hospice.

St Margaret’s 2022 Glorious Gardens season kicks off with Hollam House in Dulverton on Tuesday, 3 May, and runs until the end of July when the hospice’s garden in Yeovil is opening.

Green-fingered supporters from across Somerset have been hard at work getting their gardens ready for visitors to admire and there will be a variety of gardens on show from walled gardens to steep woodlands with beautiful views.

Last year, St Margaret’s Glorious Gardens campaign raised over £10,000, and they hope to raise more funds this year so they can continue to care for patients.

Kerry Baillie, community partnerships manager at St Margaret’s said: “We know how important our gardens are to the health and wellbeing of our patients and their families, providing places of relaxation and reflection.

"So, this campaign is important to promote gardens and open spaces to everyone, not just our patients as well as raising money.

“St Margaret’s Hospice Care has been at the heart of the Somerset community for over 40 years, delivering high-quality, compassionate, and responsive care to patients and their families facing a life-limiting illness.

“Most of our care is provided at home and in the community and it’s a great reflection that these very same communities are welcoming people into their gardens.

“We hope you all enjoy the season of 2022, getting out and about, enjoying all these wonderful gardens.”

Among those supporting St Margaret’s Hospice by welcoming visitors are garden owners across Mendip and Wells, South Somerset and the Blackdown Hills, Taunton, the Quantocks and Sedgemoor, West Somerset, and Exmoor, Yeovil, East Somerset, and West Dorset.

Full details of locations, opening dates, and admission prices can be found in the Glorious Somerset Gardens 2022 brochure, available from St Margaret’s Hospice shops, selected local garden centres, and tourist information centres, and on their website.
