A TAUNTON motorist has been fined more than £1,000 for speeding at 113mph on the M5.

Mihaita Naciu, 26, of Broadlands Rise, pleaded guilty to the offence on November 6 last year when he appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court.

As well as a fine of £1,038, he was ordered to pay a £104 victim surcharge and £85 costs, landing him with a total court bill of £1,227.

He was banned from driving for 56 days for the offence between Junctions 25 and 24 (Taunton and North Petherton).

A TEENAGER was caught driving without the correct licence and without insurance on Taunton's Trenchard Way.

Oguzhan Deniz, 19, of Daisy Close, Bridgwater, committed the offence on January 12 this year.

He was fined a total of £400 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge with £85 costs.

Deniz was not banned from driving under the totting up rules as his family business would not have been able to survive without him carrying out deliveries and he is responsible for driving his younger siblings to school.

RHIANNON Sinead Fry, 29, of Turner Close, Bridgwater, was fined £53 after admitting she failed to comply with the requirements of a community order in July.

AVHUTHAN Pradeep Kumar, 50, was disqualified from driving for six months after pleading guilty to speeding at 85mph on M5 between Taunton and Wellington (Junctions 25 and 26).

Kumar, of Melrose Close, Tiverton, was also fined £83 with a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

He received three points for the offence, leading to his ban "due to repeat offending".

KEENAN Picton, 24, of Willet Close, Highbridge, has been disqualified from getting behind the wheel for 12 months after admitting driving without insurance.

He pleaded guilty to the offence on the A38 Taunton Road, in Bridgwater, on April 13 this year.

Picton, whose eight points for the offence took him over the totting up limit for a ban, received a £120 fine, along with a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

He also admitted driving without the correct licence, for which he was fined £40, and using a car without an MOT, for which he received no further penalty.

BANNED from driving for six months was Katrina Thompson, 26, of Albermarle Road, Taunton, for doing 40mph in a 30mpn zone on Honiton Road, Staplehay, on November 26 last year.

Thompson was given three penalty points but received the disqualification for going over the totting up limit.

She was fined £40 with a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
