Watchet 115-6 beat Burnham 114-6 by four wickets
BURNHAM remain without a win in Division Two of the Shrubbery League after slipping to a four-wicket defeat at leaders Watchet.
The visitors batted first, but were restricted to 114-6.
Ed Tasker was the mainstay of the Burnham innings, hitting 38, but apart from his knock, openers Jim Bloodworth (20) and Brad House (15) were the only visiting batsmen to reach double figures.
Martin and Ryan Strong inflicted the damage with the ball for Watchet – the former taking three wickets and the latter two.
In reply, Watchet got off to a shaky start when they lost two early wickets, but opener Matt Lovell’s unbeaten 56 steadied the ship, and together with Ryan Strong (19 not out) he saw the home side to victory.
Jim Birkett took three wickets for Burnham and Mike Green bagged two.
The result leaves Burnham rooted to the foot of the table with six matches gone.
They are back in action on Saturday, at home to Huish and Langport, who are currently second.
