Burnham 73-1 beat Kilve 71 by nine wickets
BURNHAM’S fight for survival will go into the final week of the season after they beat their relegation rivals on Saturday.
Mike Green took 5-11 for the hosts as they dismissed Kilve for a lowly 71 in 31 overs, veteran bowler Brian Brogden taking 3-15.
Ed Booth (33no) and Rob Driver (20no) made light work of the chase after Jim Bloodworth fell early on to close the gap on Kilve to just seven points.
Burnham travel to league leaders Cheddar on the final weekend of the season.
Green was in ruthless form from the start as he removed the Kilve top order in no time at all.
P. Stone (18) and G. Stone (23) offered light resistance, but when they were out the Kilve innings crumbled into the dust.
Ed Booth (1-19) and Darren Aston (1-17) picked up a wicket apiece before Brogden picked up his customary haul.
Carl Clemenson accounted for Bloodworth (1) early in the reply, but there were to be no further hiccups as Booth and Driver cruised to their target in the 22nd over.
Whatever happens next weekend, it has been a remarkable turnaround for Burnham, who were without a win in the league and looking doomed until July 5, but have now won their last six games.
