Somerset Two South
Burnham II 0, Somerton 35
BURNHAM’S second string began the New Year in disappointing fashion with a 35-0 home defeat to Somerton on Saturday.
In the early exchanges Burnham showed the most promise, but Somerton fought their way into the game with two tries.
Despite this, Burnham were still threatening, but their finishing let them down.
After the break, Burnham rallied as they set about building up an attacking platform, but the restart saw the game continue at the same tempo with both teams creating scoring chances.
Somerton were able to take these chances and add to their scoreline.
The final play of the game saw Chris Leigh receive a bad injury to his shoulder, which saw him hauled off to the doctor.
He had contributed immensely to the game, and also worthy of mention were Massie Shaw, Alex Watkins, Stuart Blackey, Matt Coles and Ben Bowkett.
The seconds are at home to Morganians this weekend.
