THE Avenue Tennis Club, at The Grove, Burnham-on-Sea, participated in the British Lawn Tennis Association’s Great British Tennis Weekend, running two Open Day events on Saturday, July 21 and Sunday, July 22.

Avenue manager Barry Ramsden and coach Vinny Duddy took a variety of people of all ages and abilities through some coaching and fun games, and had a great time meeting some new players.

Duddy said that over the two days they had around 40 people turn up, and a lot of interest was shown in getting involved in tennis at the club, ranging from families to young children, and a couple of veterans who wanted to try out the club’s facilities. (especially the Astroturf courts which are very nice on the knees).

The club has organised social tennis throughout the week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, together with a variety of subsidised coaching sessions for juniors and adults and Vinny Minis on a Friday evening.
