BURNHAM’S cricketers picked up 13 points from Saturday’s trip to Winscombe, as rainfall meant that only 10.2 overs were played.

The hosts elected to bat first and reached 57-1, with Mike Coe amassing 20 not out.

Pete Harris (1-12 off five overs) claimed the wicket for Burnham, having J. Durrans-Paul (18) caught by Sam Lewis.

Burnham remain bottom of the Premier Division table, 72 points adrift of Middlezoy.

This coming Saturday sees Burnham host Taunton Deane 2nds, who currently lead the Premier standings.


ALSO in the Shrubbery Hotel Somerset League, Division 3 sides Lympsham & Belvedere and Kilve took 15 points apiece from their match.

Visitors Kilve put the home side in to bat first, Lympsham reaching 72-3 from 22 overs before the widespread rain once again intervened.

Neil Chadwick (16) and Kevin Crockett (17) were the main scorers for the hosts, for whom Nathan Hancock added 11no.

The Kilve wickets were shared between Carl Clemenson, Martin James and James Payne.

The result leaves Lympsham sixth out of 10 teams in Division 3, and this Saturday they travel to Chard 2nds, who are second from bottom.

In Division 4, Huntspill & District travelled to leaders Uphill Castle 2s and were put in to bat.

Opener Nick Slack made 19 after partner Sam Lillycrop fell without scoring.

Jake Randall looked confident as he reached 46 before being caught.

Ali Hay was unbeaten on 16 as the rain came, forcing an end to play with Huntspill on 89-4.

Huntspill entertain Crewkerne on Saturday.

Burnham 2s suffered much the same fate as they entertain Cheddar 2s in Division 6N.

Put in to bat, Peter Gaylard fell for 7 and Bradley House for 14 as Scott Phillimore opened with a hostile spell.

Andy Ashfold settled the innings with a patient, unbeaten 23 and, in tandem with Phil White (20), they took the score past 70.

Ashfold was still their when the rain won the day and play was abandoned with Burnham 2s on 80-3.

Phillimore took 2-15 off six overs.

Burnham are likely to be relegated this season and travel to Churchill on Saturday.

Bottom club East Huntspill were unable to raise a side at leaders Horrington.

This weekend, they welcome Temple Cloud.

In Division 7N, Mark travelled to Purnells 2s and bowled 33 overs before the rains came.

At that point, the home side, were standing at 166-5.

Opener George Rudd was unbeaten on 71, while Adrian Curtis added ,26.

A. Petherham was the pick of Mark’s bowlers, taking 2-48 off eight.

Mark entertain local rivals Huntspill & District 2s on Saturday.

Lympsham & Belvedere were due to travel to mid-table Harptree Villages but failed to raise a side.

On Saturday, they are due to entertain Uphill Castle Cavaliers.

Promotion contenders Wedmore 2s were looking good at Churchill 2s, having the home side at 116-7 when rain stopped play.

Dave Eckett top-scored with 34 and G. Atkins was the pick of the Wedmore bowlers, taking 3-27 off eight.

Wedmore entertain Churchill 2s on Saturday.
