OLIVIA Earthy, from Burnham-on-Sea, has been selected to compete in cycling at the 2018 School Games – a national multi-sport event for the UK’s most talented school-age athletes, taking place at Loughborough University from tomorrow (August 30) to September 2.

The 14-year-old, who studies at The King Alfred School, represents Bristol Cycling Development Squad and will compete for England South West at the School Games.

Earthy already has an impressive track record, including a top 20 finish at the National Circuit Series, while she is also a talented triathlete.

More than 1,400 athletes will compete across 11 sports at the School Games, five including disability disciplines.

It will give youngsters an experience of high-level competition in a multi-sport environment, similar to an Olympic or Paralympic Games.

Earthy will follow in the footsteps of some of Britain’s biggest sporting stars who have competed at the event before going on to senior international success – including swimmer Adam Peaty and heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
