ENMORE Park Royals, comprising a team of 20 players, travelled to Saunton Sands Golf Club on Saturday.

Once again, they came away second best being being soundly 5½-2½.

Second place was claimed by Carolyne Warren with nett 72 one ahead of third Mel Millar on 73.

The King Cup (30 and above) saw Jenny Hawkins win with a nett 77.
Three ladies scored net 78 but, following countback, it was Anne Elliott-Rose who was second ahead of Paula Travis, while Kay Taylor was fourth.

Last weekend, a group of Junior Members and their parents enjoyed taking part in a 9-hole stableford won by Olivia and Christian with 20 points.

An enjoyable time was had by all and the two lucky winners got to enjoy a Sunday Lunch as their prize.

BREAN Golf Club are the 2018 champions of Division 3 of the Avalon Golf League.

They travelled to Worlebury for their final game of the campaign, knowing they needed two wins from five matches to secure top spot.

Those wins were duly delivered on a wet day by the pairings of captain Matt Shaw and Leighton Jenkins, and Dan Broom and Murray Parsons, and then added to by a half from Steve Bateman and Tom Broom.

This result sees the team move back up to Division 2 for the 2019 season.

The Silver Jubilee Cup was up for grabs the previous day, and the silverware headed in a familiar direction as the Edmondson twins of Ron and Don collected it with a comprehensive victory.

The format was a Pairs Aggregate Medal, meaning mistakes and high scores had to be kept to a minimum to have any chance of success.

Only four players beat their handicaps out of the 46-strong field, with Tony Slade and Don Edmondson leading the way with superb 64s.

Steve Bateman posted a 67, while the other sub-par round came from club champion Ron Edmondson, which secured the win for the twins by a massive 11 strokes.

The runners-up spot required a countback to separate two pairs on 143, as Russell Shaw and Anthony McCann had the marginally better back nine nett score to relegate Murray Parsons and Tony Richards into third.

The Ladies August Stableford was another event in 2018 which saw an Edmondson top the scorecharts.

Members secretary Linda continued her excellent season with a scorecard showing 39 points, which led home runner-up Debbie Windmill by two.

Shirley Marlow was the third-placed finisher with 36 points.
