BURNHAM United fell at the first hurdle in the Somerset Senior Cup on Saturday, tossing away a 2-1 lead to lose 6-2 at home to Uphill Castle.
Curtis Bradshaw netted twice for the hosts, but goals from Benjamin Harris (2), Sam Beresford, Jordan Elliot, Joe Radcliffe and Ryan Hill saw the visitors safely through to the next round.
United’s Reserves also suffered a collapse in Division 3 of the Somerset County League, after Charlie Harding’s goal took them in level at 1-1 with Middlezoy Rovers Reserves.
The home side were rampant after the break, though, winning 8-1.
The A team lost 4-2 at home to Congresbury A in Division 3 of the Weston-super-Mare & District League, despite Declan Christie and Joe Wall’s goals.
United B were also beaten in Division 4, hosts Axbridge Town taking it 4-3.

THERE was more success for Burnham United Ladies on Sunday, as they drew 1-1 at home to a strong Ash Rangers Ladies side on their Somerset County Women’s League Division 1 debut.
They claimed a share of the spoils thanks to an own goal, assisted by a great cross in from Sarah Coggins.
Chloe Collins, Kelly Brueford and Karly West shone in defence, as did goalkeeper Vicky Hitchins.
United Ladies’ Daisy Goldsmith has been selected by Somerset FA for their Women’s Representative team to play Devon FA tonight (Tuesday).
