BLUEFLAMES ABC boxer Lewis Scutt travelled to The Bristol Hotel last Monday night after being selected by The Bristol Sporting Club to represent Western Counties boxers against The Royal Navy team.

Scutt was up against the Navy's Dom Stevenson in what was the final bout of the night.

After a night of top class boxing at the prestigious venue it was up to Lewis to close the show, and what a job he did!

The first round saw the navy lad take the initiative, leading off with his jab while Lewis kept a tight guard and continually countered his opponent.

The action was non-stop and both boxers boxed at a frenetic pace.

Round two continued at the same pace with the Blueflames boxer starting to unload some heavy shots, and twice he wobbled the navy lad when landing clean right hands.

Stevenson recovered quickly every time he was caught and his Navy fitness meant he was not on the back foot for long.

The third and final round brought more non-stop action in what was the bout of the night, with both boxers showing great skill and fitness making their bout a great finale to the night.

The decision was one that could have gone either way and it was a shame that someone had to lose.

The split decision went to the Navy lad although overall the Western Counties team won 5-3 against the navy team.

Scutt did the newly formed Blueflames club proud with a great performance and will be boxing again on the Blueflames ABC show on November 10 at the Lawns Social Club in Taunton, together with 10 other members of the club.

Augustynik said: “It was invaluable experience and will stand me in good stead.
