BURNHAM United’s run of form staggered from bad to worse last Saturday, as they were thumped 8-1 by Hengrove Athletic Reserves.
Both teams are in the bottom half of the Somerset County League Division 1 table, but a disastrous second-half display by the visitors allowed Hengrove to run riot.
Chief executioner was Jon Moss, who scored four, and he was aided by Mitchell Purnell’s hat-trick and another goal from Gary Shorney.
Jamie Merrick was on the scoresheet for Burnham.
Burnham United Reserves did rather better, keeping themselves in the Division 3 top half picture with a 2-1 win over Congresbury.
Harrison Kidner and Benjamin Windram were on target for the hosts, while Jacob Bell replied.
Over in the Weston-super-Mare & District League, Wedmore suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Locking Park in Division 1.
Division 3 side Burnham United A also lost 2-0, away to Banwell A.
Burnham United B eased past AFC Nailsea Reserves, 5-2, with Graham Summerhayes (2), Wayne Barrett, Steven Eley and Jeffrey Smith all scoring.
Wedmore Reserves lost 6-3 at Nailsea United C, for whom Ronan Riddicks scored four.
Huntspill Crowns met Crewkerne Rangers in a Somerset Intermediate Cup tie, and drew 1-1 as AJ Mockridge netted.
Crowns held their nerve from the penalty spot, winning the shootout 4-1.
On Sunday, Burnham United Ladies were awarded a home walkover, as County Women’s League opponents Combe Ladies could not raise a side.
In the Somerset Under-18s League, Burnham’s youngsters lost 3-0 at Westland Sports.

THERE was a Dave Hobbs Cup focus in the Uxella Bridgwater & District Sunday League.
The biggest winners were West Bower, who thumped Victoria Gate Albion 12-2 – Harry Taylor and Liam Winter grabbing hat-tricks.
Red Road Rangers won 7-0 at Pawlett Rebels, meanwhile, as Pete Boot led the way with three goals.
Ramblers edged past hosts Rhode Lane Wanderers, 2-1, while New Foresters won 3-2 at Puriton.
Spaxton Stags beat Spaxton Rangers 3-1 in a clash of the local rivals.
Huntspill Crowns BPH hosted club-mates Huntspill Crowns, but unfortunately the match was abandoned following a nasty injury sustained by Jack Hirons.
