West Clubs Women’s League

Sedgemoor Division 1

Taunton Vale 4ths 3, Burnham-on-Sea 1

BURNHAM paid the price for not taking their chances in a first half they completely dominated.

The Blues started full of energy and bright passing, with Kerry Harvey epitomising this.

She was everywhere on the pitch and created early chances for Amy Edmundson and June England.

Carly Bush had two goalbound efforts saved, before Caroline Hunt’s strike was well saved by the in-form Vale goalkeeper.

The visitors did have the ball in the net courtesy of Macy Lucas’s rebound from a strike stopped on the line by a foot, but the umpire had already blown his whistle to give a penalty flick – which they then missed.

Burnham eventually took the lead right on half time, as nice work between Ellie Bishop and Edmundson set the impressive Harvey racing into the D, where she scored with a strong shot.

The Blues had their confidence whipped away from them right at the start of the second half, as Vale scored with their first attack.

This put them on the back foot and they were second to every ball, while they could not find their rhythm from the first half.

Ultimately they conceded two more goals, despite the efforts of goalkeeper Sarah House.

Player of the match: Kerry Harvey

Burnham’s next outing is a cup match at Cheddar, this coming Saturday (10am).
