Hengrove Athletic 2, Wellington AFC 1

TWO goals in the first 20 minutes from Jack Fillingham handed Hengrove Athletic victory over Wellington on Saturday.

Joe Chamberlain had already seen a shot saved when Fillingham popped up at the other end to head home on five minutes.

He then doubled the hosts' lead, again with a header, having been left unmarked from a free-kick in the 20th minute.

It remained 2-0 at half time, after which Sam Bryant's diving header drew a great save from the home keeper, before the Tangerines pulled one back on 55 minutes.

Conor Bryant knocked the ball down and Glen Wright fired in, to get his side back into the game.

Conor Bryant and Jack Bryant both hit the post in quick succession, but there was to be no equaliser, as Wright saw a shot saved late on.

The result leaves Wellington 13th in the Premier Division, and this coming Saturday they host Chipping Sodbury Town (ko 3pm).

The Tangerines remain without striker Josh Wadham, who is serving a six-game ban after his red card for an off-the-ball incident the previous weekend.

Devizes Town 1, Bishops Lydeard 0

BISHOPS Lydeard were left to rue a missed penalty as they succumbed away to Devizes Town on Saturday.

Visiting goalkeeper Nathan Whatley made a series of fine saves early on to keep his side level, but Lydeard were then handed a golden chance to take the lead when Zac Ryder was tripped in the box.

Devizes centre-back Joshua Brigham received his second yellow for the challenge, but Ryder then saw his spot-kick saved by home keeper Adam Walters.

It remained goalless at the break, and Lydeard could not find a way past their 10-man opponents.

And they were hit by a sucker-punch with five minutes left, as Alistair Bradley won the game for the hosts.

Lydeard are 16th in the table, five points ahead of the bottom two, and on Saturday they are away to Bishop Sutton (ko 3pm).
