Uhlsport Somerset County League
Division 1
Burnham United 1, Yatton & Cleeve United 0
BURNHAM United ended their long winless streak with victory over Yatton & Cleeve United on Saturday.
Burnham had not tasted success since beating Timsbury Athletic on September 8, but they had pushed league leaders Bridgwater Town Reserves close, losing 1-0 to a last-minute goal, on November 24.
Visitors Yatton were fourth going into this match, but the only goal of the game came from the home side – Harry Penfold the hero.
That result lifts Burnham three points clear of the bottom two, Wells City Reserves and Long Ashton; this coming Saturday sees Burnham travel to Wells Reserves for what will be a crucial encounter (ko 3pm).
