BURNHAM United claimed revenge for last year's defeat with a convincing win over Burnham-on-Sea RFC in a charity football match on New Year's Day.

It was the rugby boys who won the inaugural match, held to raise funds for the football club after a break-in, but this time around it was the footballers who triumphed 6-1.

Ollie Taylor bagged a hat-trick for United, with Mike Stevens, Wayne Barrett and Joe Selway also on target at Cassis Close, in a match played in good spirits.

Burnham United tweeted their thanks to referee Dan Hunt (a late stand-in) and all those who supported the 'Seasiders versus Stags' fixture.

In total, the event raised £336.04 for BARB Search & Rescue.
