THERE was a magnificent match in Division 1 between Rogues and Cowboys where no fewer than 1,128 pins were knocked down - the stickers-up certainly earning their corn.

Rogues produced their best performance of the season as they hit 570, the highest team home score of the season and 12 too many for Cowboys.

Barry Hale top scored for Rogues with 83, while father and son Alan and Richard May added 79 apiece.

Despite the defeat they still remain a point behind leaders Shunters, who lost to the Hedgejumpers by 36.

Tryer’s took their winning run to 10 matches after beating Steamers by 21.

The individual performances of the week also came at the Ritz Social Club, where Social Club’s seasoned campaigners Roger Quick and Steve Tindall shone in their two-pin victory over the Little Acorns.

Firstly, Roger Quick scored a magnificent total of 97, with five spares, and then Steve Tindall put the icing on the cake, as he finished with an 18 flopper when he required 16 for victory to finish with 80.

But a special mention goes to Roger Quick’s father, Storming Norman Quick, who scored 75, despite being 89 years young!

In Division 2, Outsiders remain three points clear after they defeated Crown Criminals by 30, Nick Gosling top scoring with 67.

In Division 3, Berrow Basics had a two-pin victory over Radio Social.

Steamers banished all memories of losing last year’s cup final by going one better this year as they easily defeated Poachers by 23 after scoring 505.

Paul Cozens top scored with 69 for Steamers, a score matched by Poachers’ Chris Jays.

In the Second Chance Cup, The Lads strolled to a 52-pin victory at the Globe Inn against White Rebels, two opening hands of 80 and 89 pulled 50 and put this match to bed early on.

Tom Skelding scored a terrific 79 for The Lads.

HAVE the Pirates been scuttled? Crown sealed the double over them, which was their second consecutive defeat in Division 1.

Pirates never seemed to get going and lost pins on five hands to succumb to a 30-pin defeat.

Woolavington Boys defeated seven-man Crusaders by 50 pins.

Scott Davey and Jason Kingston had two spares apiece in their top scores of 66 for the victors.

Closest match of the night was at Sexeys Arms, where Swannies picked up two vital points against local rivals Stop Outs with a one-pin victory.

Cavalier’s mini revival continues as they picked up three points after defeating Wanderers by 34 pins.

Highest scoring match of the night saw Somerset Vaults came from behind to defeat Oddsquad by 19 pins.

Foxes & Ferrets were another team that could only muster seven men on the night and they duly fell to their seventh consecutive defeat, losing by 31 pins at home to Nomads.

Phil Coggins had a 17 flopper, one of just two spares in the contest, in his top score of 63 for Nomads.

Spitfires and Huntspill Boys remain three points apart at the top of Division 2 after both won away.

Spitfires scraped through by five pins at Haymakers, while Huntspill Boys won by 27 at Wasters.

Wheatsheaf Boys had the opportunity to move alongside Barstewards in third but fell to a 15-pin home defeat to Polden Turkeys.

Three Cees made the long journey to Red Tile, Cossington worthwhile when they came away with all three points after an 11-pin victory over Rofugees.

Stop Outs will meet Crown in the final of the KO cup on March 1.

Crown overcame Barstewards by two pins at Sexeys Arms in what was a very close match.

Mike Galley top scored for the victors with 60 whilst best for Barstewards was Dan Mitchell with 61.

Stop Outs’ encounter with Wanderers was different as they raced into a 28-pin lead after the second hand and never looked back.

Jason Ratcliffe hit 67 but the best score in the match went to Tom Boobyer, who had three spares in his 78 for Wanderers.

Woolavington Boys will contest the final of the Second Chance cup as they defeated Nomads by 47 pins in their semi-final.

Dan Hembery had two spares in his top score of 69 for the victors.

Woolavington Boys are likely to play Polden Turkeys in the final as their opponents, Huntspill Boys, failed to turn up. But a final decision on that result has still to be made.
