TAUNTON & Pickeridge members have enjoyed a great weekend of golf .

In the top division of Saturday’s Stableford it was Kevin Oxley who headed the table with 41 points but only after countback put him ahead of young Alfie Jubb who returned with the same score.

Paul Gough was third with 40 points.

In Division Two it was Keith Marlborough, with 40, who was the winner.

Countback was used to sort out the next two places and it was John West who edged into second just ahead of Rich New after both returned with 39.

Division Three saw two players returning on 41 but, after countback, it was Rob Hutchinson who took top place in front of Derek Blackmore, while Andy Turle was third with 39.

Somerset over-50s cricketer Andy Sapey changed his bat for his golf clubs to win Sunday’s Stableford with 43.

Martin Hill was second but only following countback which put him ahead of third-placed Mark Coleman after both returned with 41.

On Tuesday, the Ladies Section took part in a Texas Scramble that involved 10 teams of three players in each.

The scores were quite close but, at the end of an enjoyable competition, it was Lennox Heath, Paulette Bamberger-Worton, and Jo Evans with 46.4 who were the winners.

Margaret Blackaller, Mary Perrett and Liz Reeves were second and Katie Guest and Jeanne Leader took third.

Kyle Miller will be the new captain and Charlie Hooper will the vice-captain of Taunton & Pickeridge Junior Section for 2019.

Both are single figure handicappers.

Kyle has been a member of T&P for over three years while Charlie has been involved with the club for nine years and has grown up through the highly successful junior section.

The first Junior Section training session will be on Saturday, March 10, at 1pm, while the First Club Night will commence at 3.45pm on the April 8.

T&P's Tom Sloman has been promoted to the England men’s squad for the 2019 season.

Sloman is one of three to have jumped up from the A squad to the top men’s group.
