THE third of five floodlights has been installed at Somerset County Cricket Club as the project nears completion.
The latest installation is between Gimblett's Hill and the Somerset Stand and the visual impact can be seen in the picture gallery above.
Somerset chief executive Andrew Cornish wrote on Twitter: "This is the day the skyline really changes.
"Won’t please everyone we have to accept that."
He added: "The lights will mean that we are able to play matches at more suitable times for our members and spectators.
“Our Vitality Blast matches will now be able to begin later at night rather than at 4.30pm.
“This is of obvious benefit to our fanbase but will also add to the night-time economy of the town overall.
“It’s important for us but it goes far beyond just the cricket club.”
The final two lights are due to be in place by the end of the week.
