ENGLAND have named their 15-man preliminary squad for this summer's ICC Cricket World Cup.

Former Somerset star Jos Buttler, this week linked with a return to the county, is part of the squad but there is no place for Jofra Archer.

The Sussex all-rounder, who has starred in T20 competitions around the world and qualified for England selection in March, is part of the 17-man squad to take on Pakistan in a five-match series which precedes the tournament.

Archer and Chris Jordan will have the chance to stake their claim for World Cup selection in that series.

Buttler, along with Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes, has been rested from the squad to face Ireland in an ODI and Pakistan in an IT20.

There are no current Somerset players in any squads.
