TOM Sloman won the individual title as he starred in England Men’s European Nations Cup victory in Sotogrande, Spain.

The Taunton & Pickeridge golfer, 22, led England to an eight-shot win over Holland in the final of a competition which counts Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy among its past winners.

Sloman had a rollercoaster ride en route to the individual prize.

He had a two-shot lead going into the final round but struggled until an eagle three on the 14th put him right back in the mix.

His dramas continued until the 18th, where his drive finished in the trees but he managed a par after holing out from 15ft, completing the last five holes in one-under.

It proved to be a winner when Germany’s Jannik de Bruyn missed from 4ft, failing to force a play-off.

Sloman, recently made an honorary member of T&P, is currently ranked 32nd amateur golfer in the world.
