WHERE do I start?

It has been an incredible start to the season so far. It couldn’t have gone any better.

The first game in this competition against Kent last Friday was amazing.

Tom Banton’s innings was absolutely superb and the whole bowling unit went above and beyond. To bowl out last year’s finalists for less than 100 just shows how much talent we have in the squad here.

Bants showed that if you put in the performances for the Second XI, you can get a chance.

He made 150 against Middlesex for the Seconds, was given his chance in the Firsts and took it with both hands. He is a quality performer and it was a pleasure to watch him play on Friday.

Special mention has to go to the Somerset members and supporters, too. There were over 5,000 people at the Cooper Associates County Ground.

To play in front of that many people is a real privilege and they certainly made themselves heard.

We are so lucky to have such a huge support and we are very grateful to everyone who makes the effort to come out and cheer us on.

There is nowhere like Taunton on a sunny day in front of a full house.

Things didn’t go quite so well at Glamorgan on Sunday, but the boys showed a lot of character to pull the result out of the bag right at the death. The sense of relief and joy as Azhar held on to that catch was massive.

Momentum is huge in sport and we feel like we are on a bit of a roll at the moment.
