SOMERSET have named a largely unchanged squad to face Hampshire from tomorrow (Sunday, 11am start) at the Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton.

Having suffered their first County Championship defeat of the season against Essex last week, the Division 1 leaders do have options to shake things up as required.

Dom Bess and Josh Davey, who were named in the squad to face Essex but were not selected, will be pushing to start this match after a loan spell at Yorkshire and a minor injury, respectively.

Spinner Bess scored 156 runs in four matches for Yorkshire (including an unbeaten 91), and also claimed seven wickets in those games.

As for Davey, the seamer picked up 6-52 in the first innings of Somerset's Second XI Championship match with Kent at Taunton Vale last week.

There is no place for Craig Overton, however, having missed the Essex game with a groin injury.

The 13-man squad named by head coach Jason Kerr is as follows:

Tom Abell (c), Azhar Ali, Tom Banton, George Bartlett, Jack Brooks, Dom Bess, Josh Davey, Steve Davies, Lewis Gregory, Tim Groenewald, James Hildreth, Jack Leach, Jamie Overton.

Hampshire are third in the current Division 1 standings, 27 points shy of Somerset.

Captained by Sam Northeast, the visitors will be eager to avenge their defeat in the final of the Royal London One-Day Cup, Somerset winning by six wickets at Lord's in May.

Liam Dawson and James Vince remain unavailable for selection due to being in England's World Cup squad, but Ian Holland and Oli Soames join the 11 who played in Hampshire's last match, a four-day defeat at Essex.

The full Hampshire squad is:

Kyle Abbott, Tom Alsop, Keith Barker, Mason Crane, Aneurin Donald, Fidel Edwards, James Fuller, Ian Holland, Sam Northeast (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Rilee Rossouw, Oli Soames, Joe Weatherley.

Spectators will be asked to observe a minute's silence before the start of play tomorrow, in tribute to Charles Clark.

Clark became club chairman in January 2018, but sadly passed away earlier this month.
