AVENUE Tennis Club's ladies A team of Emily Rossiter, Linda Matthews, Wendy Pryce and Angela Tinnion beat Wells B 6-4 this week.

Rossiter and Matthews won their rubbers convincingly against the A pair (6-1 6-1) and the B pair (6-0 6-2).

Pryce and Tinnion lost both their rubbers (3-6 3-6 and 2-6 1-6), but on countback the team won 33-28.

Avenue men’s B and C teams both played at home and managed wins over their respective opponents, Brent Knoll A and Cleeve B.

Avenue Tennis Club has four men’s and two ladies’ teams which compete in the North Somerset Tennis League, and they are always looking for new players

The club’s Open Day is on Sunday, July 14 – before the Wimbledon men’s singles final – from noon to 2pm.

Attendees can go on court with the coaches, who will take them through some shots and games, have a bash against the ball machine or just relax and watch the kids on the courts.

All equipment is provided.

Ian’s Sunday Service is a social, mixed doubles competition (10am-noon) on the second Sunday of every month; the next one is on July 14.
