Trull Tennis Club's finals day took place last Sunday and saw a fantastic day of tennis, homemade cakes, great support from spectators and, as a bonus, the sun was shining!

The day started at 11am with the mixed doubles and the ladies over-35 singles finals.

In the mixed, David Hill and Anne Bazley were convincing winners over Amelia Davies and Garry Smith 6-1, 6-0.

The ladies over-35 singles was a gritty competitive match won by new member Robyn Edwards, who beat Bronwen Seegar 6-4, 6-3.

Next followed the men’s singles and ladies under-35 singles.

In the men’s match, Hill took the first set off head coach Jon Warren but eventually lost in three sets – 6-3, 1-6, 3-6.

The ladies under-35 final was also a very competitive match with challenger Melissa Bryant taking the first set 7-5 from defending champion Amelia Davie.

Davies fought back, however, to win the next two sets 6-1, 6-4.

The Men’s doubles saw club captain (David Hill) in action for the third time and with his partner Paul Dejaeger they comfortably beat Steve Hunt and Pete Barton 6-1, 6-1.

In the ladies doubles, Anne Bazley and Melissa Bryant teamed up to beat Angela Cliffe and Sally Phillips 6-2, 6-2.
