Division 1
Burnham United 1, Street Reserves 1

BURNHAM United continued their unbeaten start to the season on Saturday, drawing 1-1 at home to Street Reserves to remain top of the Division 1 table.

The hosts had the best chance of a goalless first half, but Curtis Bradshaw’s strike was pushed over the bar by the Street keeper.

Street took the lead on 54 minutes, as Bob Smith struck, but Burnham immediately went looking for the equaliser and in the 68th minute they were awarded a penalty after Jamie Merrick was fouled.

Joe Selway made it three out of three from the spot for the season, and he collected the Fusion Man of the Match award.

Burnham are without a fixture this coming Saturday; they return to action on October 5, at home to Nailsea United in the Somerset Senior Cup second round (ko 2pm).

BURNHAM United B claimed the derby day honours by beating Berrow 1-0 in Division 4 of the Weston-super-Mare & District League on Saturday.

It was a typical derby game – very scrappy at times and both teams battling hard.

The hosts piled on pressure throughout the first half but it remained goalless.

Berrow got back into the game during the second half, and with full-time approaching it could have gone either way, but young substitute Harvey Barnshaw scored a last-minute winner for Burnham, with a well-taken volley from the edge of the 18-yard box.

Man of the match: Luc Walker
