TAUNTON Town defender Pierce Mitchell has left the club after a three-year spell with the Peacocks.
Right-sided full-back/wing-back Mitchell joined Taunton in August 2016, having previously been at Bristol City, Bristol Rovers, Bath City, Weston-super-Mare, Truro City and Frome Town.
He played a key role in helping the Peacocks to the first round proper of the FA Cup in 2016, and earning Southern League promotion in 2017/18, as first choice right wing-back under Leigh Robinson and during Rob Dray’s first season in charge.
However, the current campaign has seen his opportunities restricted by the arrival of Jamie Short, who has become Dray’s preferred option on the right-hand side.
Taunton tweeted: “Pierce Mitchell has departed the club by mutual consent. We would like to thank Pierce for the past few seasons and wish him all the best in the future.”
Mitchell tweeted: “Loved every minute of playing with the boys for the last three years and to be part of how far the club has progressed in that time has been a pleasure.”
The Peacocks are in action this afternoon, at home to Hayes & Yeading United (ko 3pm).
