SOMERSET will begin next season's County Championship campaign at home to Warwickshire on Easter Sunday (April 12, 2020).

The domestic fixtures have been released this morning (Tuesday) and see a big change to the schedule due to the inaugural season of 'The Hundred'.

The Royal London One-Day Cup, of which Somerset are holders, will run alongside the 100-ball competition and Somerset will begin their defence of the trophy against Warwickshire at Edgbaston on Monday, July 20.

'The Hundred' being played at the height of summer also means half the County Championship season (seven matches) will be done and dusted by May 25.

Then comes the Vitality Blast, which Somerset begin at home to Gloucestershire on Friday, May 29.

Another change sees 10 teams in Division One of the County Championship in 2020, meaning each team does not play every other team twice.

As a consequence, Somerset will not host Lancashire or Kent this summer, while Tom Abell's side will not be travelling to Yorkshire or Northamptonshire.

Pleasingly from a local perspective, Somerset will play Gloucestershire twice in the Championship - at Bristol on May 1-4, and at Taunton on June 14-17.

These will be the first Championship matches between the two Westcountry rivals since 2007.

The Royal London One-Day Cup groups are no longer regionalised, meaning Somerset will play the likes of Yorkshire, Notts Outlaws, Derbyshire and Leicestershire Foxes in 50-over cricket next season.

The final is at Trent Bridge on September 19, with Vitality Blast finals day a fortnight earlier (September 5).

Somerset will also travel to face Cornwall and Devon in warm-up matches ahead of the One-Day Cup, allowing the club's supporters in these areas to see their team in action.

Those matches will take place in Truro (July 15) and Exmouth (July 17), respectively.

Taunton will also play host to four-day tourist match between England Lions and the West Indies, beginning on Friday, May 22.

The Women's Hundred comes to the Cooper Associates County Ground on Sunday, August 2 as Welsh Fire take on Southern Brave.
