Somerset Premier
Stothert & Pitt 22, Burnham-on-Sea 41
BURNHAM-ON-SEA are 10 points clear at the top of the Somerset Premier table, after their 11th win from 11 games this season.
Closest rivals Minehead Barbarians did not play, allowing the Stags to extend their advantage over the chasing pack.
They scored seven tries to dispatch Stothert & Pitt on Saturday, with Chris Warner, Tom Wall, Ashley Cutter, Sam Lewis, Ross McKechan and Richard Muskett (2) all crossing the whitewash.
Tim Piper added two conversions and Alex Watkins one.
Burnham captain Ross McKechan said: “We started well, scoring two early tries, but eased off far too quickly and were punished for it.
“We were missing tackles and were under a lot of pressure.
“We went in at half-time just ahead but disappointed with how we played.
“We responded well in the second half, gaining more control at the breakdown and dominating the collision, which gave us front foot ball and allowed us to pull away from them.
“We are happy with our season so far but know we have so much more work to get through.”
Without a game this coming Saturday, Burnham host 12th-placed Tor on Saturday, December 7.
Burnham's 2nds were due to play at Minehead Barbarians 2nds at the weekend, but the match was called off - and is set to take place this Saturday instead.
