SATURDAY night was a successful one for Blueflames boxer Bailey Nixon.
Nixon, a plumber with Westford Mechanical, made the long trip to Truro to box Falmouth boxer Brett Ralph.
Nineteen-year-old Nixon was giving away 15 years in age to the Cornish boxer but what he lacked in age he more than made up with youth and desire.
Straight from the first bell Nixon took the fight to the Falmouth boxer, with his high work rate, although Nixon certainly didn’t have it all his own way, with the stronger Ralph catching the Taunton boxer with some good hard shots.
As the bout went on, Ralph's workrate slowed and the youth of Nixon came into play.
The final two rounds continued along the same lines, with each round being very close, although Nixon probably edging it on workrate.
This is also what all three judges decided, all awarding the decision to the Taunton boxer.
