Staplegrove Saints Under-16s 0, Minehead Under-16s 2

MINEHEAD Under-16s racked up their third win on the spin after another great team performance.

Minehead started well with Finley Foreman and Archie Dascombe controlling midfield, playing balls out to the wings and through the centre pinning the home side back in their own half.

Minehead came close twice early on as Foreman’s great header was kept out by a super save before Russell Lindley saw his header crash against the bar.

Staplegrove responded with an attack down the left but Charlie Disney and Ben Allen dealt with the danger.

Minehead kept the pressure on, with Tyler High and Prescott each seeing shots cleared off the line.

Prescott was not to be denied soon afterwards, heading Disney’s cross into the top corner to put Minehead in front.

Minehead came close to going further ahead just before the break with efforts from Tyler High, Ryan Chilcott and Olly Prescott all saved.

Minehead were straight back on the attack after the break and, when Bogdan Budisan put pressure on the home goalkeeper, his clearance struck a defender and the loose ball fell kindly for Prescott to double the lead.

The home side then had a good spell but were denied by a superb saving tackle by Charlie Disney and double save from Ben Bloys.

At the other end, Lindley shot wide and Budisan had an effort saved before yet another goalline clearance.

Man of the match Prescott was denied a hat-trick by the woodwork late on as an effort came back off the post but Minehead saw out the victory.
