Uhlsport Somerset League
Division 3
Burnham United Res 2, Tunley Athletic 1

BURNHAM United Reserves made it six straight wins on Saturday, as they edged out visitors Tunley Athletic at Cassis Close.

The hosts started brightly, but just couldn’t put their chances away early on.

The breakthrough came after Fred Berry’s free-kick forced the Tunley keeper to pull off a double save, and Benny Windram was there to score the rebound.

In the second half, Burnham carried on playing some lovely football, but chances went begging as the Tunley keeper kept his side in the game.

Keane Tanner then equalised, but Tunley weren’t level for long, as United netted again from another Fred Berry free-kick, which found the head of Harrison Givens for what proved to be the winning goal.

Division 3
Weston Town 7, Burnham Utd A 0

BURNHAM’s 3rd XI faced a tough game at league leaders Weston Town and were on the back foot from the start, finding themselves 3-0 down at half-time.

Weston continued to impress in the second half and took their chances.

Connor Harding-James (2), Daniel Hiscox (2), Daniel Berry, Jake Marshman and Cameron Milkins got the goals for the hosts.

Division 4
Burnham Utd B 3, Worle Rangers Res 1

THIS was a physical contest that started poorly for the home side, as Worle capitalised on a defensive lapse to score with just two minutes played.

After a nervous period directly after the goal, Burnham finally started to take control for long spells, creating chance after chance.

A goal from Luka Krastic just before half-time confirmed that a win was possible and, after the break, Burnham’s attack pushed a tired Worle defence into making mistakes.

These were converted by Burnham, who took the lead through Dylan Webb.

Worle responded with a late fightback, but a fine header from Jude Harris gave the Seasiders all three points.
