BRIDGWATER Town face a “massive game” at home to Hallen tomorrow.

The Robins are on a five-game unbeaten run, with last weekend’s fixture away to title contenders Plymouth Parkway falling foul of Storm Dennis.

Tomorrow (3pm) sees third-placed Hallen visit Fairfax Park, with Robins co-manager Dave Pearse hopeful of the match going ahead.

“I’m hopeful that the groundstaff can get the game on,” he said.

“The fixtures are piling up, and the last thing we want is another backlog, so fingers crossed.”

Hallen are seven points ahead of Bridgwater in seventh spot - both teams having played 25 league games - and have won seven of their last eight in the Western League Premier Division.

Pearse said: “Hallen and [sixth-placed] Shepton Mallet are the clubs we’ve got to catch for a place in the top six.

“Win on Saturday and we’re four points off them - but lose to them and it’s 10 points, which is a big amount even with lots of games still to go.

“We also have to keep above the teams below us, like Bitton [who are four points behind with three games in hand]... so it’s a massive game and we need to win it.”

Pearse expects to have a full squad available, with on-loan defender Owen Irish returning after playing for Taunton Town in the Somerset Premier Cup earlier this month.

“We’ve got a squad of 17 now, including myself,” added Pearse.

“We started the season with 20 players and shuffled them about, but in hindsight we should have knocked that number down earlier.

“The squad we have now has stuck together, got some great results and I hope that will continue.”

SOMERSET County League side Middlezoy Rovers were also left without a game last weekend, as only one fixture in the whole County League survived the weather.

Tomorrow (2.30pm) sees Zoy, who sit fourth in the Premier Division, at home to 15th-placed Clutton (2.30pm).

On Sunday (2pm), Middlezoy Rovers Ladies hope to play their Somerset FA Women’s Senior Cup semi-final at home to Keynsham Town, which was postponed from last weekend.
