Division 1
Burnham United 3, Welton Rovers Reserves 0

BURNHAM United sit third in the Division 1 standings, with two wins and a draw from their opening three fixtures, after seeing off Welton Rovers Reserves on Saturday.

This was an entertaining game, with both teams contributing well, despite the torrential rain and high winds throughout the 90 minutes.

Burnham started slowly and it was the visitors who applied the pressure early in the game.

The Seasiders began to get into the game as the half wore on, however, and they took the lead through Curtis Bradshaw after 35 minutes.

It remained 1-0 at half-time, and the hosts were in control from the beginning of the second half, creating chances and goalkeeper Steven Bailey saving well when called into action.

The pressure paid off midway through the second period, with Bradshaw scoring again after some good build-up play down the right-hand side.

Bradshaw then completed his hat-trick five minutes from time, with a great finish after some superb play from Ryan Stiles.

Burnham are due to entertain Nailsea & Tickenham Reserves - who are currently 13th in the table - this coming Saturday (3pm).

United’s Reserves were without a fixture in Division 3 of the County League, with their next match being at home to Bishops Lydeard Reserves on October 17.
