LAST weekend’s Burnham-on-Sea Rugby Club fundraiser has passed the £2,500 mark, with the proceeds going to In Charley’s Memory.
Organiser Tim Piper thanked all the participants - who ran, walked and cycled 1,712 kilometres in one day (smashing the 1,000km target) - and those who had donated (taking the total past the £1,000 target).
Burnham United footballers contributed 50km to the tally, and Burnham-on-Sea Harriers added 350km.
Others to take part include Paul Shepherd and his team of PE teachers at King Alfred School, who contributed 40km between them, while James Cannard ran an entire marathon!
The fundraising page - here - will be open until tomorrow (Friday), so there is still time to add to the £2,507 which had been donated at the time of writing.
The rugby club’s two lockdown challenges have raised more than £5,500 for two worthy charities - the War Memorial Hospital and now In Charley’s Memory.
The latter charity offers counselling and mental health support to young people in Somerset and the surrounding areas.
