Nigel Ellis won the re-arranged third round of the Seniors Eclectic last Tuesday which was the only event completed in a storm ravaged week.

On a day which threatened rain but delivered very little Ellis produced a nett 65 to win by a couple of strokes from Barry Fellows.

Fellows in turn was another couple clear of a trio of 69 shooters tying for third. The best of these on a countback was Mark Elvins with Mike Allen and Mike Short settling for 4th and 5th respectively.

As the halfway stage of the five round event has now passed it shows Brian Read to be the current leader on 58 with Mike Allen just one behind and three others close by on 60.

Two scores topped the 40 point barrier on the last Sunday in October as round two of the Winter League was contested.

A card of 41 stableford points was enough to secure top spot for Andrew Jones and with scoring a little closer than it was the previous day it gave him a one point advantage over runner up Mats Mattsson.

Simon Prior was another point further back in third with Dave Bradley holding off Kevin Hollyhead for fourth after a back nine countback on 38.

Brean Golf Club is situated on the Somerset coast at Brean Leisure Park, 10 minutes from Burnham On Sea, and M5 J22.

The current layout of the course was opened in March 2016 and sees the 18 holes cover 5663yds from the back tees with a par of 69.
