A GROUP of gymnasts from Monarch Gymnastics Club recently travelled to Germany to compete at the annual Gutenberg Acrobatics Cup.

It was a 15-hour drive by coach for the group before they competed against some of the best clubs in Italy, Switzerland, UK and of course the German clubs.  

The Monarch Gymnasts came back with plenty of medals and several other really good results.

The results included:

  • Juno, Ava and Phoenix 2nd
  • Leo and Cai 1st
  • Emily, Erin and Grace 3rd
  • Harriet, Izzy and Lily 15th
  • Evie and Ellouise 8th
  • Maddie, Felicity and Aeesha 9th
  • Izzy and Lily 16th

Mandy Warburton from Monarch Gymnastics said: "I would like to say a massive well done to all the gymnasts that competed you all did amazingly.

"I would also like to say a massive thank you to Burnham and Highbridge Town Council for helping us get to the competition with the grant we were awarded, the Windmill Bar and Bistro in Edithmead for holding a race night to raise funds and also to Mike Sherman who ran a Marathon in Lochness and fundraised to help us on the way. Thank you everyone."

Just a week after coming back from our very successful competition in Germany it was the turn of every member of the Monarch Gymnastics squad to compete.

This time it was the South West Championships in Yate, Bristol and the group of gymnasts returned with another huge stack of medals.

This competition is a massive competition and one of the largest number of gymnasts in any region in England.

Mandy Warburton said: "Well done to all of our gymnasts and of course our coaches and judges as well as all of the parents from Monarchs who helped at the competition.

Gold Medals: Regan, Edee & Imogen, Eve, Amara & Ava, Tay and Emily, Zoe, Mya & Miaya

Silver Medals: Emily, Erin & Grace, Louie & Joshua

Bronze Medals: Izzy & lily, Leo & Cai

Mandy added: "A huge well done to the team of 53 gymnasts, they all did fantastic, their coaches are so proud of them."
