ROGER Hurrell's scorecard was the first one to be returned in the Seniors May Stableford, and the 37 points that were recorded on it proved to be the winning score.

No other player in the field managed to better their handicap and it gave Hurrell his second seniors win in the past month.

Runner up one point behind was Andrew Smallwood with 36 whilst Mats Mattsson won  a countback for third on 35 ahead of Mike Allen and Mike Hurman.

The journey to Chard to face Cricket St Thomas is always a lengthy one for the Brean Seniors but when traffic delays enter the equation it takes even longer.

The Brean players led by Captain Tim Amy eventually arrived last Tuesday and took to the course to face their South Somerset counterparts.

They ended the day with a drawn game ending 3 games apiece which mirrored the result they achieved there in 2023.

Sunday saw Brean contest the second round of the Somerset Bowl.

The draw had again afforded them home advantage and they faced local rivals Isle of Wedmore amidst some extremely damp conditions at times.

It was the home team that proved to be victorious, running out three games to two and they progress into the next round.

Life in Division Three has proved to be tough for the B team so far in 2024 but hopefully a run of home games starting next weekend will rectify this.

Their latest away game at Tall Pines on Sunday saw them slip to a 4-1 defeat although a number of the games were close they tended to fall in favour of their hosts.

Both days at the weekend saw Super Series events on the menu.

Fifteen teams took to the course in Saturday's Super Series Scramble with the trio of David Hunter, Simon Prior and Martin Kennelly coming out on top.

They combined for a net score of 53 to win by two strokes.

A countback was required to decide the finishing order of the trios who carded net 55s.

Taking the runners up spot with the better back were new club members Tyler Parker, Sam Davies and Bon Fear ahead of Keith Sargeant, Mike Mullin and Mick Norris who were placed third.

A sharp shower of rain around lunchtime brought a soggy end to a few of the rounds in Sunday's Super Series Stableford competition.

With other matches taking place entry numbers were lower than normal and only one player beat their handicap.

With 40 points to his name Matt Haskins was the overall winner as well as in Division One ahead of Series leader Tony Richards on 34.

Richards held off playing partner Murray Parsons on a back nine countback.

Mike Mullin was the top dog in Division Two and second overall with his card of 35 points. Roy Fletcher was his nearest challenger on 34 with Dan Harper third on 32.
