Cheddar women’s walking football team put on a strong display in the latest Somerset FA tournament.

The team faced stiff competition throughout the day, starting with a challenging match against Bristol Badgers, where they were only narrowly beaten by a single goal.

In their second game, Cheddar secured a victory against the SomerVale Flyers, coached by former coach John Portt.

Kerry Hayes and Julie Rogers each scored, showcasing the team's dominance on the field.

The third game saw Cheddar up against Pen Mill, a formidable team.

Despite several attempts, Cheddar couldn't penetrate the Pen Mill defence, largely due to their goalkeeper's excellent saves.

A lapse in concentration at the back allowed Pen Mill to score an unexpected goal, marking Cheddar's second loss of the day.

Game four was against Frome, a team that had already beaten Cheddar 3-0 in the league this season.

Cheddar put in a much better performance this time but conceded an early goal.

A significant setback was the injury of Sarah Williams, one of the team's strongest players, who was unable to continue in the tournament.

Despite a strong performance, Cheddar lost 2-0.

In the fifth game, Cheddar faced Exeter City and delivered an impressive display.

Ali Riley, the standout player of the day, scored her first competitive goal for Cheddar, securing a well-deserved victory for the team.

The next match was against Winscombe, where Cheddar had the majority of possession and several shots at goal but couldn't find the back of the net.

However, the defence was solid, with Nikki Llewellyn thwarting every Winscombe attack.

The final game of the day was against a Weston Super Mare team.

Fatigue was evident in the Cheddar team, but they still managed to put on a fantastic performance.

Despite their efforts, the match ended in a 0-0 draw, with Cheddar demonstrating strength in all areas.

Overall, the tournament was a testament to the growing strength of the Cheddar women's walking football team.

Despite the mixed results, the team showed significant improvement and resilience against tough competition.
