Western Counties West
Wadebridge Camels 57, Burnham-on-Sea 5
BURNHAM-ON-SEA suffered a heavy defeat at Wadebridge Camels on Saturday as their difficult Western Counties West campaign continued.
Wadebridge ran in nine tries, but Burnham continued to battle and Sam Lewis went over for the visitors’ only try after good work by the pack.
Burnham remain cut adrift, and this Saturday they host St Austell.
Man of the match: Lee Vaughan
Somerset 2 South
Burnham 2nd XV 41, Minehead 2nd XV 21
BURNHAM started this game on top, with good phase play ending in Tim Piper dancing over.
More direct play from Burnham stalwart Alan House allowed Jude Donnelly to leave defenders in his wake to power over.
He soon scored his second after a powerful maul from the forwards led to him peeling off and flying under the posts.
Minehead gathered themselves and scored under the posts, but Burnham hit back immediately with Ryan Beard catching the kick off and offloading to Jack Manlow to score.
Fin Ingham then intercepted and sprinted in from 50 metres.
The ball was thrown around like it was a summer’s day and more scores from Beard and Manlow completed Burnham’s win in what was a thoroughly enjoyable game.
On Saturday, Burnham 2nds travel to Yeovil.
